I have loved and admired Adrianas work for some years now and I´m so delighted to be able to welcome her to Garn-iture this summer.

In June 2023 in Ålborg Adriana came across a beautifully colored foxglove plus a bee entering a tulip. And from this meeting, two characters emerged in a garden.

During this workshop you will learn how to embroider with knots to create high raised textures. This stumpwork technique was originally done using wooden tools that are no longer available. Adriana developed a way to reproduce this ancient technique without the need for those instruments.
The project in this class is embroidered almost entirely with stitches that are variations of the same stitch. Making this connection took her more than ten years of study and experimentation.
This workshop is the personal result of many years of exploration.

Additionally, the course includes two stitches created by Adriana, Japa Mala and Coffee Beans.

Another technique also developed by Adriana and that you will learn in this class is how to make a color gradient applied to needle lace.
For all these reasons this workshop is unique in its kind.

MATERIALS INCLUDED
You will receive a printed fabric with the design inspired by her trip to Denmark, threads, needles and a handmade book with explanations of the stitches and key tips so you can finish the embroidery at home.

SKILL LEVEL:
Difficulty level: Intermediate to advanced. It is necessary to know how to embroider the stem stitch and the back stitch.

About Adriana Torres:
Adriana is an textile artist and embroidery educator from Argentina. She also draw, paint and make pottery. She studied Architecture and Graphic Design at the University of Buenos Aires. And also Fine arts and Illustration with grat masters.
She has taught several embroidery workshops worldwide. Her works has been published in countless publications around the world too. Her inspiration comes from nature.

"GRACIAS" - needlelace with knots.
I juni 2023 stødte Adriana i Ålborg på en smukt fingerbøl blomst og en bi. Ud af dette møde dukkede to karakterer op i en have.

I løbet af denne workshop lærer du, hvordan du broderer med knuder for at skabe højt hævede teksturer. Denne stumpwork-teknik blev oprindeligt udført ved hjælp af træværktøjer, der ikke længere er tilgængelige. Adriana udviklede en måde at reproducere denne gamle teknik uden behov for disse værktøjer.
Projektet i denne workshop er broderet næsten udelukkende med sømme, der er variationer af samme søm. At skabe denne forbindelse tog hende mere end ti års studier og eksperimenter.
Denne workshop er det personlige resultat af mange års arbejde.

Derudover er der inkluderet 2 sting som er skabt af Adriana, - "Japa Mala" og "kaffebønner".

En anden teknik, som også er udviklet af Adriana, og som du vil lære på denne workshop er, hvordan man laver en farvegradient, der påføres nålekniplinger.

Af alle disse grunde er denne workshop særlig unik.

Du får et trykt stof med designet inspireret af hendes tur til Danmark, garn , nåle og en håndlavet bog med forklaringer af stingene og tips, så du kan færdiggøre broderiet derhjemme.

Om Adriana Torres:
Adriana er tekstilkunstner og broderiunderviser fra Argentina. Hun tegner, maler og laver også keramik. Hun studerede arkitektur og grafisk design på universitetet i Buenos Aires samt billedkunst og illustration.
Hun har undervist i adskillige broderiworkshops verden over. Hendes værker er også blevet udgivet i utallige publikationer rundt om i verden. Hendes inspiration kommer fra naturen.
